WHY A WORKERS CO-OP?

Emma & Jodie working together at height on a small timber structure

In a workers co-operative responsibilities are shared and every member of the co-op has an equal say in the running of the business.  We hope that this structure will lead to an inclusive and non-hierarchical workplace; opportunities to learn and challenge ourselves; development of good communication skills; and an emergent creative potential that is greater than the sum of its parts.

Only workers can be owners of the business, we intend to pay ourselves decent living wages and invest in our communities and the promotion of sustainable building and craft practises. No owner can extract undue profit from the company. If the business has to be dissolved any remaining assets are distributed amongst like-minded organisations within the co-operative movement.  It embodies our hope for a shared, collaborative, sustainable future.
